Application Process

The Urology Residency Program at Georgetown University Hospital participates in the AUA Urology Match and applications are processed through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).  Their web address is www.aamc.org/eras.

The Georgetown program is seeking to fill three positions in the match.

Residency Application Guidelines:
To obtain an ERAS application, you must contact your Dean’s office or if you are a foreign medical graduate, you may contact ECFMG to obtain a passkey to the system. Once you have completed the application, please return it to your Dean’s office, where it will be loaded into a secure workstation.
The Residency Selection Committee will only review completed applications. A complete application consists of the following.

  • ERAS Application: including CV, three (3) letters of recommendation and personal statement
  • Medical School transcript
  • USMLE Scores
  • Dean’s Letter
  • ECFMG status report, if applicable

Please note that the Selection Committee is fully aware that the Dean’s Letters are not sent out until November 1. Your application will still be reviewed.

Neither application review nor invitation for a formal interview will be made unless the application is complete by October 1.

Interview:
After completion and review of your application, you will be notified about interview dates.  Interviews are granted by invitation only.  If selected for an interview, candidates will be notified via the ERAS post office.  Each candidate will be interviewed individually by various members of the urology faculty and the Chairman of the department.  During the interview day, all applicants will be given the opportunity to speak with urology residents, as well as take a tour of the hospital.  At the completion of formal interviews, candidates are invited to an informal gathering with the residents for food and drinks.
